Anatomy of a Fixed Gear Bike

As a bike enthusiast, I have had much experience riding and working on bicycles. After a 6-month bike build, I decided to design What initially was an Infographic poster to be a fully interactive guide teaching others about every single mechanism of a fixed-gear bike and all the knowledge and practice I've gathered to teach others about this great passion of mine I love so much.

Process

When I first began this project, I knew I wanted to design an infographic about bikes; I just didn't know what to write about yet. A fixed gear bike is the bike with the least amount of parts, this serves as a great start for any beginners or casual cyclist wanting to learn more. As I started sketching out some ideas, I came across an interesting way of combining type with illustration to both label the different parts of a bike and also connect them using color to type, which would go deeper into the use and tips. With this style of design, learning about bikes would be just as easy as riding them. While finishing up my Infographic poster, I felt limited by the amount of real estate available, as I had to choose whether the main focus would be on the informational text or the bike graphic I worked extensively on. By choosing a new media to present this project I brought forth an Interactive display that improved the overall design and granted me new possibilities to which this project could go.

Have a nice day
